Communities Project for Highland Biodiversity
The Communities Project for Highland Biodiversity provides funding for 24 local projects that conserve or enhance the natural heritage and encourage communities to look after it.
The Project takes forward the aspirations of Highland’s seven Local Biodiversity Groups. As part of the Highland LBAP Review (2006) the Groups were asked to prioritise project ideas arising from their Local Biodiversity Action Plans. The resulting priorities were then worked into proposals by the Groups, which were pulled together as a funding bid to the Heritage Lottery Fund’s ‘Your Heritage’ programme.
Our funding bid was successful and the Communities Project for Highland Biodiversity started in June 2007. It will run for three years with funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund, Highland Council, Scottish Natural Heritage, Highlands & Islands Enterprise and RSPB Scotland.
