Moth Trapping & Monitoring
Project to increase knowledge about the species and distribution of moths in Caithness and involve trained volunteers in this process to maintain their interest and enthusiasm in biodiversity.
This project worked with volunteers that were trained in capturing, identifying and recording moths in a previous project undertaken in the area. The project will enabled them to undertake the survey and monitoring that they have been trained to do and to contribute data to the Highland Biological Record Centre using the expertise and assistance of the Butterfly Conservation Trust. Trapping took place in 6 new sites in Caithness. It is hoped that publicity about the project will attract new volunteers also and they will be able to learn alongside existing volunteers.
